You’ll find the Cassel and Fletcher head office on Bury Old Road in North Manchester. Until relatively recently, you’ll also have found a row of dilapidated shops slap bang opposite. Old, rundown, unloved, unwanted properties that had blighted the area for more than 20 years.
Not any more.
Because Cassel and Fletcher MD Noah Fletcher had had enough.
He’d had enough of looking across the road every day at a mess of old unused shops. He’d also had enough of the lack of good quality family housing in the area.
And while plenty of people were quick to complain about the situation, Noah decided to actually do something about it.
Something that would, in one, lift the aesthetic of the neighbourhood while offering fresh opportunities to families wanting to settle in the area.
Close to Heaton Park, within easy access of the M60 and only a stone’s throw from central Manchester, there was certainly no shortage of good reasons to live there. Just a shortage of decent sized family homes.
So at the end of 2019 Cassel and Fletcher, bought all 8 properties and set about transforming them.
Working closely alongside Debtal Architecture and structural engineers Marston & Grundy, the first priority was to demolish years’ worth of unsightly ad hoc extensions added piecemeal to the rear of the old shops since their construction in the early 1900s.
It was a case of taking the houses back down to the bare bones before delicately restoring them to their former glory, with beautiful bay windows and original redbrick work.
A year later and modern, spacious kitchens, open plan living, landscaped garden space, individual rear parking and a generous 4 bedrooms had elegantly transformed each of the properties into a beautiful and highly desirable family home.
“Everybody is delighted,” says Noah. “This part of Bury Old Road has been transformed. Home owners at the rear on Milton Road now have beautiful new homes behind them instead of a bunch of rundown extensions.”
The amount of positive comments we’ve had from people who live in the area is unreal.” Little surprise then that the homes were all snapped up within a matter of weeks. Everybody wins.
A neighbourhood rejuvenated. New spacious family homes on the market to meet the new spacious family home housing crisis. And a proud reminder of a job extremely well done every time Noah and his team look out across from their office.
