Leicester Road

BACKGROUND

Although a relatively small project, Leicester Road presented its fair share of unique challenges. The main road location raised several access issues – we were limited to certain working times, and deliveries to site had to be carefully planned.

The residential nature of the neighbourhood also called for working with consideration for local residents and their needs. Consequently we and our partners made every effort to keep disruption to a minimum.

WORK

Changing the building’s function from two separate residences to a single, architecturally unified place of study and worship clearly demanded major reconfiguration, and extensive interior structural changes had to be painstakingly planned and executed.

The Academy interior naturally demanded a high standard of finish throughout, with attention to detail, craftsmanship and quality materials being the order of the day. We worked very closely with the Synagogue Committee throughout the project, ensuring that all the religious design requirements were met in full.
